6% jump in collisions on Ottawa roads so far this year

The Ottawa Police Service is reporting an increase in collisions on Ottawa roads during the first six weeks of the year.

The service’s Traffic Collisions Snapshot shows there were 3,153 collisions reported to police between Jan. 1 and Feb. 14, up from 2,964 collisions during the same period in 2025.

Three people have been killed in collisions on Ottawa roads this year, while 88 people suffered injuries in collisions.

Police said there were 17 collisions involving pedestrians during the period.

Of the 3,153 collisions reported in Ottawa between Jan. 1 and Feb. 14, 457 collisions were classified as failure to remain, meaning a driver fled the scene.

The worst intersection for collisions so far this year is the corner of Hunt Club Road and Riverside Drive, with 13 collisions reported. There were 11 collisions at the intersection of Baseline Road and Woodroffe Avenue and nine collisions at the corner of Greenbank Road and Strandherd Drive.

Ottawa police reported 20,650 collisions in Ottawa in 2025, including 3,320 failure to remain collisions.

Police said 268 collisions involved pedestrians in 2025, while 140 involved cyclists.

These were the five worst intersections for collisions in Ottawa in 2025:

• Hunt Club Road and Riverside Drive: 89 collisions
• Blair Road and Ogilvie Road: 57 collisions
• Baseline Road and Woodroffe Avenue: 53 collisions
• Greenbank Road and Strandherd Drive: 53 collisions
