Ottawa police seek witnesses to crash on Prince of Wales Drive that injured 3

The Ottawa Police Service is looking for witnesses to a head-on crash on Prince of Wales Drive Sunday morning that sent three people to hospital.

Emergency responders, including Ottawa paramedics, Ottawa Fire Services and Ottawa police were called to a section of Prince of Wales Drive, south of Hunt Club Road, at around 8:50 a.m.

An Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson told CTV News on Sunday that one man was transported to hospital in critical condition, while another man and a woman were both transported in stable condition.

The Ottawa Police Service said Monday the person in critical condition is a man in his 80s.

Ottawa Fire Services says the drivers were each trapped in their vehicles. One driver was safely removed by 9:05 a.m. and the other was extricated at around 9:20 a.m.

The second driver’s removal from the car involved removing the driver’s side door and performing a “dash roll,” Ottawa Fire Services said on social media, a technique used to lift and pivot the vehicle’s dashboard away from the driver’s legs to free them safely.

Both vehicles were de-energized before firefighters cleared the scene.

Police closed Prince of Wales between Deakin Street and Amberwood Crescent while firefighters and paramedics worked to free the victims and transport them to hospital. The road reopened at around 3:45 p.m.

Ottawa police say investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dashcam or surveillance footage of this incident but has not yet spoken to police.
