19 kittens found in a box delivered to Ottawa Humane Society

Nineteen kittens are in the care of the Ottawa Humane Society after being discovered in an Ottawa neighbourhood this week.

The humane society says the kittens were found in a box in Riverview Park Tuesday night and brought to the shelter.

“Some of the 19 kittens are healthy and some are sick and receiving veterinary care at the OHS,” the Ottawa Humane Society said in a statement.

The kittens were among 42 cats admitted to the Ottawa Humane Society on a single day.

“We are glad the kittens are at the OHS and getting the care they need,” Sharon Miko, president and CEO from the Ottawa Humane Society.

“We know that not being able to care for a pet can cause a person a lot of moral distress. Our message to the community is that the OHS is here to help.”

The cats were found ahead of the Ottawa Humane Society’s Wiggle Waggle Walk and Run on Sunday at Lansdowne. It’s the biggest fundraiser for the animals in the care of the humane society of the year.
