Festival set to heat up Barrie’s waterfront

The annual festival in its 21st year offers live music, vendors, a beer garden and midway for the public to enjoy for free.

An annual tradition celebrating Barrie’s waterfront and bringing together members of the community from all around is here.

The 21^st annual Barrie Waterfront Festival is taking over the Lakeshore this weekend, offering a little something for everyone.

The festival will feature live musical entertainment, food trucks, vendors, a beer garden and midway.

A number of different tribute bands make up most of the musical lineup with classic rock tribute band Boneyard kicking things off on Friday at 6:30 p.m. followed by Foo Fighters tribute band Monkey Wrench at 8:30 p.m.

A five-piece classic rock band, Wayward Saints, will kick-off Saturday’s lineup at 12 p.m., with an afternoon of rock tributes: a Tragically Hip Tribute, Neil Young Tribute, Ozzy Osbourne Tribute and AC/DC Tribute.

Philcos, a high energy party band, will take the stage on Sunday at 12 p.m. and then a Red Hot Chili Peppers Tribute, Bruce Springsteen Tribute and Queen Tribute.

The festival takes place at Centennial Park and runs Friday through Sunday.
