Two people have been charged with assault and other offences following recent incidents in the Sault.

In the first case June 24, a 33-year-old Sault woman was charged with hitting a victim with a bat in the area of Airport Road.

“An investigation revealed the accused struck a victim, who is known to them, multiple times with a bat,” police said in a news release Tuesday.

Assault with a weapon

“The victim sustained minor physical injuries. Around 8:20 p.m., officers located and arrested the accused.”

The accused is charged with assault with a weapon. They were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 22.

The second incident took place Monday evening on Dennis Street around 9:50 p.m.

“An investigation revealed the accused had spit on a victim, who is known to them, and verbally threatened them,” police said.

“The accused was located and arrested by officers shortly before midnight.

A 35-year-old man has been charged with assault, uttering threats and four counts of violating probation orders.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
