Two people killed in northern Ont. residential fire

A residential fire overnight Wednesday claimed the lives of two people in St. Charles. An investigation is underway to determine the cause.

A residential fire in the community of St.-Charles has claimed the lives of two people, police said Thursday afternoon.

The blaze was reported at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.

Ongoing investigation

“Nipissing West OPP, the St-Charles Fire Department and the French River Fire Department responded to a residential fire on King Street East in St-Charles,” the OPP said.

“The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing by the Nipissing West OPP crime unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services in partnership with members from the Office of the Fire Marshal.”
