Ottawa paramedics say a woman was taken to the hospital overnight after falling from the Rockcliffe Lookout. Public information officer Marc-Antoine Deschamps said paramedics were called to the area at around 1:35 a.m. Wednesday. Tactical members used ropes to reach the woman, who had serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The Ottawa Fire Services rope rescue team was also called in to assist, helping to get the woman up the six-metre cliffside and into an ambulance by 2:30 a.m., according to a news release. “One of our Rope Rescue Technicians rappelled down to the woman to assess the situation. After making contact, the technician determined our Rope Rescue Team could safely access the woman by walking down along the shoreline,” said Ottawa Fire Services public information officer Nick DeFazio. “Our Rope Rescue Team brought a Stokes basket with a wheel down to the woman, packaged her safely and carried her back up approximately 20 feet to the lookout area.” Paramedics continued care on the way to the hospital, where the woman was admitted in serious but stable condition, Deschamps said.
