A corner in downtown Montreal underwent a dramatic facelift on Tuesday night. The planned demolition of the building on the corner of Rene-Levesque Boulevard and St. Denis Street drew a collection of onlookers, some speculating that the building had collapsed. SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant confirmed that the demolition was planned by the city and took place in the evening. The 1111-1117 St-Denis St. address, across the street from the CHUM hospital, once housed Deno’s Restaurant, which closed its doors in 2022 after being in operation since 1958. It’s “Restaurant” marquee remained on the building until Tuesday night. Brabant confirmed that no one was injured.
