Police in North Bay say they have charged a suspect with 25 offences in connection with an intimate partner violence case that emerged last week. The investigation began Aug. 11 around 11:30 p.m. outside a residence in the city. “It is alleged that an adult wearing a disguise directed a young person to puncture the tires of a vehicle and subsequently point what appeared to be a firearm at the vehicle,” police said in a news release Aug. 21. “The (suspect) then allegedly walked in front of the residence while displaying what appeared to be a firearm. As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at the accused’s residence. Nine firearms were seized.” The suspect was arrested Aug. 12 and held in custody. Police have not released their name, age or gender to protect the victim and “to ensure the integrity of the court process.” Charges include criminal harassment, using a replica firearm during an offence, careless use of a firearm, mischief, wearing a disguise with intent, recruiting a young person to commit an offence, weapons possession and nine counts each of careless storage of a firearm and possessing a prohibited device or ammunition.
