Two charged in North Bay after police seize $80K in illicit drugs

Two men, ages 30 and 24, face drug charges after North Bay police say they seized nearly $80,000 in fentanyl, cocaine and pills.

The North Bay Police Service has charged two men and seized approximately $79,950 in drugs, including fentanyl and cocaine, following an investigation by the street crime unit.

The arrests took place around 3:45 p.m. on April 22. Police approached a parked vehicle in the Manitou Street area, near where the two male suspects were standing.

“Upon police arrival, both males attempted to flee on foot,” police said in a news release April 24.

“After a brief foot pursuit, both were arrested without incident.”

A search led to the seizure of $5,335 in cash and drugs believed to be 344 grams of fentanyl, 110 grams of cocaine, 22 Dilaudid pills and 24 Percocet pills.

A 30-year-old man from North Bay is charged with drug trafficking, possession of the proceeds of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with a release order.

A 24-year-old man from London was charged with driving while prohibited, as well as drug trafficking and possession of the proceeds of property obtained by crime.

Both were being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
