Transport, horse and buggy collide on Hwy. 11 in northern Ont.

Four people were taken to hospital after a transport truck collided with a horse and buggy on Highway 11 near Matheson on Friday.

Ontario Provincial Police attended the scene of a collision along Highway 11 in Matheson, east of Timmins.

The crash involved a transport truck and a horse and buggy with four occupants, police said.

“The four occupants of the horse and buggy have been taken to hospital,” police said in an email to CTV News.

“At this time, there is no injury update.”

According to an OPP news release, Friday afternoon, the crash occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m.

The road was closed in both directions at Burton Road in Matheson, reopening just before 8 p.m., according to the Ontario 511’s Traveller Information Service, with police confirming on social media they had cleared the scene at 8:15 p.m.

“The investigation is ongoing,” said OPP in the release.
