Timmins police investigate early morning gunfire

Timmins police are investigating after gunshots were fired on Toke Street early Saturday. Lydia Chubak reports.

The Timmins Police Service is investigating a report of gunshots that occurred in the early morning hours on Saturday.

Officers responded to a call in the area of Toke Street on Aug. 23 after receiving reports of gunfire.

No injuries reported, investigation ongoing

Police confirmed that the incident did not result in any physical harm.

“(Officers) were able to confirm that no injuries were reported in connection with the incident,” the police service said in a news release.

Police advised that the matter remains under active investigation, with investigators working to determine the precise circumstances that led to the gunfire.

“The Timmins Police Service takes all reports involving firearms seriously and remains committed to ensuring public safety,” said police.
