Three charged in Thunder Bay drug trafficking bust

A drug trafficking investigation in Thunder Bay’s Ogden Street area has led to multiple charges against two men and a woman.

The Thunder Bay Police Service said officers were initially sent to a home on the street on March 27, in response to a call for service.

The investigation later came to involve the police service’s intelligence unit.

“As part of the investigation, officers searched a home in the area,” police said in a news release.

During that search, police said officers located and seized a handgun, suspected cocaine, cash and other items associated with drug trafficking.

Multiple charges laid

Two 35-year-old men, both from Thunder Bay, face a series of charges as a result of the investigation.

The charges against the men include two counts of assault, forcible confinement, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, three firearm-related offences and two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

One of the men faces an additional charge of failing to comply with a probation order.

A 34-year-old Thunder Bay woman has also been charged. Her charges include unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition and failing to comply with a probation order.

All three accused were remanded into custody after their first court appearance.
