Motorcyclist in his 20s critically injured in Hwy. 401 crash

A man in his 20s has been airlifted to hospital with critical injuries after a serious crash on Highway 401 near Whitby. Both lanes have since been reopened.

A motorcyclist is in hospital with critical injuries following a crash on Highway 401 in Whitby on Saturday afternoon.

Ontario Provincial Police say it happened in the eastbound lanes near Brock Street around 2:50 p.m.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital, Ornge told CP24.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The highway was briefly closed in both directions.
