Teen charged with assaulting Sault security guards

Police in Sault Ste. Marie say a 16-year-old is facing multiple charges after an altercation with security personnel at a local business yesterday.

Officers responded to the 700 block of Great Northern Road around 10 a.m. on July 13 following a 911 call reporting an assault in progress. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said the accused youth was arrested at the scene.

Investigation details

“An investigation revealed the accused youth threatened, kicked, punched, and scratched security guards,” the police service said in a news release.

Police said the security guards sustained minor physical injuries as a result of the incident.

Charges laid

The 16-year-old has been charged with two counts of assault and one count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

The accused was released from custody on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the court on Aug. 25,
