Teen charged in Sault Ste. Marie knife attack

A 15-year-old in Sault Ste. Marie faces multiple charges following an assault with a weapon in the city on Sunday night.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said officers were dispatched to the area of St. Georges Avenue West and Huron Street just before 8 p.m. on April 13 after 911 operators received a report of an assault.

Police said the victim and the accused are known to one another.

“An investigation revealed that – following a verbal altercation with the victim – the accused motioned toward them with a knife, causing minor physical injuries,” said police.

The accused was arrested at the scene.

The youth has been charged with assault with a weapon and failing to comply with sentence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on July 7.
