Suspended driver charged following Hwy. 17 traffic complaint

A 42-year-old driver from Webbwood, Ont., is facing charges after the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 17 earlier this month.

The incident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 4, when OPP says officers received a report about a possible impaired driver on the highway in Baldwin Township.

“Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop,” said police in a news release Wednesday.

Following the traffic stop, an investigation revealed that the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended licence.

As a result, the individual was charged with two offences related to driving while under suspension and operating a motor vehicle with improper tires.

In addition to the charges, the accused was issued a summons for a future court date and police impounded the pickup truck involved for 45 days at the owner’s expense.
