A 33-year-old from Dowling has been charged with drugged driving after Ontario Provincial Police received a complaint about a sleeping driver earlier this week on Highway 144.

Police were contacted around 1 p.m. Feb. 16 to respond “to a driver passed out in a parked vehicle in a live lane on Highway 144, near Onaping Falls,” the OPP said in a news release.

Police arrived and found the sleeping suspect, who also had the wrong licence plates on the vehicle.

Charges include driving while impaired by drugs and having a licence plate not authorized for the vehicle.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 11 in Sudbury.

His licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and the vehicle has been impounded for a week.
