Snowfall warning for Sudbury, Sault

Weather specialist Rick Wyman has your 7-day forecast as the northeast heads into Christmas, Boxing Day and the weekend.

Environment Canada says heavy snow is expected to last until Friday afternoon in Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury.

A yellow warning has been issued for areas in and around both cities, with up to 15 cm of snow expected.

“Reduced visibility at times in heavy snow,” the warning said.

Reduced visibility in blowing snow is expected near the shores of Lake Superior, near the North Channel and Manitoulin Island.

“Snow will end from west to east later today,” Environment Canada said.

Strong winds from the southeast gusting up to 60 km/h may reduce visibility to near zero at times in blowing snow.

“Travel will likely be challenging. Visibility will likely be reduced at times,” Environment Canada said.

“Allow extra time for travel.”
