While a suspect is still at large, the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service has lifted its shelter-in-place advisory for Brunswick House First Nation.

“Amid thorough investigation, police now believe there is no ongoing threat to public safety linked to the … Oct. 12 incident that led to the shelter-in-place advisory,” police said in a news release Thursday.

“However, the investigation remains ongoing.”

The emergency order was put in place after a shooting last Sunday afternoon in the community.

Search continues

“Police responded to a disturbance call from a residential address and located an injured male,” police said.

“The exact extent of the victim’s injuries is not known but are not believed to be life-threatening.”

The suspect is a man, but no description has been released.

Nishnawbe Aski police and the OPP are continuing their search to locate the suspect.

“A police presence may remain in the area as the investigation continues,” the release said.
