A 14-year-old faces weapons-related charges after what police in Sault Ste. Marie described as “an incident” involving an imitation firearm in the city. Police said the events allegedly unfolded roughly 12 hours before they were reported to 911 operators on the morning of July 29. According to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the incident took place in the 200 block of Northern Avenue East at about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. “An investigation revealed the accused youth pointed an imitation firearm at an adult victim in the parking lot of a multi-unit residential building,” police said in a news release. Officers also confirmed that the victim and the accused were known to each other. Multiple charges Police located the teen around 10:15 p.m. on July 29 and took them into custoday. The teenager has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 9.
