A 17-year-old in Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and other offences According to local police, 911 operators received a report of a youth in possession of a weapon in the 200 block of Albert Street West at about 12:25 p.m. on Sept. 9. “Officers were dispatched to the scene and arrested the accused,” the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release Thursday. “Upon searching the accused, officers located a replica handgun with a CO2 cartridge and 3D printed handgun receiver.” Multiple charges As a result, the teenager was charged with two counts of careless use of a firearm, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and one other firearm-related offence. The teen was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
