Sault police seek help with theft investigation, after woman leaves drug store without paying

Sault police are investigating an incident of theft at the Shoppers Drug Mart location in the Cambrian Mall last month.

On April 20, according to police, an unknown female entered the location and placed items in her basket and left.

Security’s observations

“Security observed the woman placing multiple items … into a shopping basket,” said officials with Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District in a news release.

“She then bypassed the self-checkout area and exited the store without paying.”

Authorities said the value of the merchandise taken was approximately $283.

Left in a back pickup

The suspect was last seen leaving the scene in a black Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Portions of the incident were captured by video surveillance cameras and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and Crime Stoppers are requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect.

“Do you recognize this individual,” Crime Stoppers asked in its news release.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact Sault police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

This incident came less than a month after a pair stole from the same location.
