Sault police, Crime Stoppers seek armed robbery suspect

Crime Stoppers is asking the public’s help to identify a suspect in an armed robbery at a Sault Dollarama last month. The man allegedly pulled a handgun & fled.

Sault police are asking for help identifying a suspect following an armed robbery at a local discount store last month.

Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District, in partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, issued a plea for help last week and detailed the incident.

Crime Stoppers said the incident took place Feb. 20 at the Dollarama on Second Line West when the unknown suspect attempted to leave the retailer without paying.

“The suspect walked out of the store with items where he was confronted by an employee,” Crime Stoppers said in a news release.

“The male pulled a handgun out from his coat, pointing it at the employee and fled the area.”

Police have not said what items were taken from the store.

Appeal to the public

Portions of the incident were captured by video surveillance cameras, and Sault police and Crime Stoppers are requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect.

“Do you recognize this individual?” asked Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact Sault police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

“If you have information, contact Crime Stoppers,” the organization said in a related online video.
