The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service charged a 20-year-old man with assault with a weapon after an incident Thursday. “Police received a report of an assault in the 100 block of Canal Drive just before 7 p.m. Sept. 24 where an investigation revealed the accused had punched one victim several times and assaulted them with a knife,” police said in a news release Friday. “The victim sustained minor injuries before a second youth victim was verbally threatened and assaulted.” Police found the accused at their residence at around 8:30 p.m. He was charged with two counts of assault, assault with a weapon, four counts of failing to comply with probation and uttering threats. The man was held in police custody pending a bail hearing.
