North Bay police seize fentanyl, cocaine and cash

Two people from North Bay and an American man are in custody following a police raid in the city this week that uncovered $15,000 in illegal drugs and more than $23,000 in cash.

The North Bay Police Service said in a news release March 26 that the arrests were the culmination of a street crime unit investigation.

The emergency response team executed a search warrant March 25, around 5:30 p.m., at a residence in the Carruthers Street area.

“Upon arrival, (an) accused … attempted to flee but was arrested without incident,” police said.

“Officers arrested two co-accused … at a retailer in the 1800 block of the Algonquin Avenue area.”

Police seized 35 grams of fentanyl, eight grams of cocaine, 70 grams of crack cocaine and $23,222 in cash.

American man

A 22-year-old man from Pennsylvania has been charged with multiple counts of drug trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

A 42-year-old woman from North Bay has been charged with the same offences, along with a 42-year-old North Bay man who is also charged with failing to comply with a release order.

The three accused are being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

“This operation was a success thanks to the professional skill, careful planning, and teamwork of our members,” Insp. Scott McFarlane said in the news release.

“By intercepting the source of these drugs entering our community, we are disrupting the flow of dangerous substances into the city.”
