Police seek driver in Dokis First Nation hit-and-run

Police are looking for witnesses after a person on a motor-assisted bike was the victim of a hit-and-run in Dokis First Nation over the weekend.

The Anishinabek Police Service is investigating a hit-and-run collision that left one man injured on Dokis First Nation over the weekend.

Police said the incident occurred between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Authorities said they received a report that a vehicle struck a male operator of a motor-assisted bicycle at the intersection of Subdivision Road and Charlies Bay Road.

“The driver of the suspect vehicle did not remain at the scene and was last observed driving towards Main Street,” said the police service in a news release Monday.

The male victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Search for suspect vehicle

Authorities are seeking a white vehicle, possibly a Toyota, Honda or Hyundai, being driven by a man in his 20s with long hair. A female passenger is also believed to have been in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

“The vehicle will have visible damage to the passenger side,” said police.
