A rush to get to a business before it closed has ended with stunt driver charges in Greater Sudbury last weekend. Police said they stopped a vehicle on Falconbridge Road travelling 129 km/h when the speed limit was 60 km/h. “When asked why they were driving so fast, the driver explained they were trying to get to a business before it closed, describing the rush as, ‘real quick, but not too quick.’” “Unfortunately, 129 km/h in a 60 km/h zone is definitely too quick,” police said in a social media post Aug. 4. The driver was charged with speeding and stunt driving, which meant their licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle impounded for two weeks. “As an added inconvenience, the vehicle happened to be a rental,” police said. “No errand is worth risking your safety or the safety of others on our roads. If you’re trying to beat the clock, remember: arriving safely is always better than arriving quickly.”
