Police investigate suspicious death in northwestern Ont. First Nation

The Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a suspicious death in Lac Seul First Nation.

Police responded just after midnight Thursday to the area of Mahkwa Road, “where one person was located deceased,” police said in a news release.

“The death has been deemed suspicious.”

“Residents of the Lac Seul First Nation community of Frenchman’s Head will continue to see an increased police presence as the investigation continues,” police added.

“Further information will be released as it becomes available.”

Working the case are the OPP’s crime unit, the Lac Seul Police Service, under the direction of the OPP criminal investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted in Toronto.
