Police, Crime Stoppers seek ID of Sault liquor theft suspects

Police in Sault Ste. Marie and Crime Stoppers are seeking a trio of suspects who allegedly stole several bottles of liquor from an LCBO location on Dec. 9.

Sault police and Crime Stoppers have released surveillance images and are seeking the public’s help to identify multiple suspects involved in what they describe as a coordinated theft at a city liquor store last month.

Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District, in partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, issued a plea for help on Friday and detailed the incident from last year.

Thefts in two acts

According to investigators, the incident occurred on Dec. 9, when a woman and a man entered an LCBO location.

“The female was observed concealing a bottle of Crown Royal in her shopping bag before leaving the store,” said Crime Stoppers in a news release.

The woman, however, did not remain gone for long.

Trio returns to take more booze

Authorities said the female suspect returned to the same store a short time later, this time accompanied by two men.

Once inside, the three individuals allegedly selected several more bottles of liquor to take.

“The three suspects then left the store without paying,” the release said.

The items taken in the second incident included bottles of rum, Irish cream and whiskey.

The entire sequence was recorded by the store’s video surveillance system.

Authorities have distributed the surveillance images and a video along with an appeal for information.

“Do you recognize these individuals?” asked Crime Stoppers.
