Police, coroner investigating northern Ont. death

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a death in the Municipality of Greenstone.

On Thursday at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers with the Greenstone detachment and Superior North Emergency Medical Services responded to a report of a medical emergency. One individual was transported to hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.

“A post-mortem examination will be conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto,” OPP said in a news release.

Authorities said the investigation into the incident is ongoing under the direct of the OPP criminal investigation branch in conjunction with the coroner’s office.

“Assistance is also being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services,” added police.

Police have not released any further details about the identity of the deceased or the cause of death.

CTV News has reached out to OPP for more information but has yet to receive a reply as of the time of this publication.
