The numbers are in for the North Bay Police Service following Operation Impact 2026 over the three-day Thanksgiving weekend. The national road safety campaign focused on reducing preventable collisions, injuries and deaths, police said in a news release Friday. Police laid 20 speeding charges and made two arrests for impaired driving, including one involving a novice driver. The stunt driving offence resulted in a driver’s licence suspension and a 45-day vehicle impoundment, police said “We know the majority of drivers are making good decisions and doing their part to keep our roads safe and we want to thank them for that,” said Sgt. Greg McClenaghan. “Unsafe driving is preventable and can have serious consequences for everyone.” Police remind drivers to arrange for a designated driver or alternative transportation when consuming alcohol or other impairing substances, obey posted speed limits and drive according to road conditions.
