OPP seize $230K in fentanyl, other drugs during northern trafficking probe

South Porcupine OPP drug bust yields $230,000 in suspected fentanyl, cocaine and meth and charges for a Moosonee woman.

A drug trafficking investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police has resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of suspected fentanyl and other drugs with a combined estimated street value of $230,000 on Monday.

The investigation, conducted under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, was concluded on March 2.

“Police seized a large quantity of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $200,000,” OPP said in a news release Tuesday.

In addition to the fentanyl, officers seized suspected cocaine and methamphetamine during the operation. Cash and various items of drug paraphernalia were also located and seized by OPP.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old woman from Moosonee has been charged with three drug trafficking offences and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.

The accused is being held in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
