It didn’t take long for police to catch up with three men from southern Ontario in Wawa following a theft at a Sault Ste. Marie business Sept 19. Superior East Ontario Provincial Police charged three men just a few hours later in Wawa on charges issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, police said in a news release Wednesday. “Shortly before 1:00 p.m., police in the Sault received a report of a theft from a business in the 200 block of Queen Street East where an investigation revealed two suspects had stolen merchandise from the business earlier that day,” said police. “Just before 3:30 p.m., OPP located the two suspects, along with a third person in Wawa, where officers located the stolen merchandise.” A 74-year-old Oakville man who was wanted on warrants from four other police services was charged with theft. A 40-year-old Pickering man who was wanted on warrants from another police service was charged with possession of property obtained by crime. And a 34-year-old Pickering man who was wanted on warrants from four other police services was charged with theft. All three accused were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court on December 14, 2026.
