OPP charge 2, seize nearly $14K in cash, drugs in northern Ont.

Two arrested in Monteith drug bust. OPP seized nearly $14,000 in cocaine, cash and paraphernalia after the execution of a search warrant.

Ontario Provincial Police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a home in Monteith, Ont., a community in Iroquois Falls about 50 kilometres northeast of Timmins, on Tuesday. Officers were assisted by a canine unit and other regional OPP teams.

Police said officers seized quantities of suspected cocaine, cash and drug paraphernalia. OPP said the estimated the total street value of the items seized is $13,800.

As a result of the investigation, two individuals have been charged. A 48-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, both from Monteith, are facing charges of drug trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.

“The accused persons are being held in custody and are awaiting a bail hearing,” OPP said in a news release Wednesday.
