Northern Ont. welder claims $737K lottery prize

Adam Moreau, a father of two from Hornepayne, Ont., has won a $737,186.50 Lottario jackpot. He says he plans to travel and invest the bittersweet prize.

Adam Moreau of the Hornepayne, north of Wawa, won ‘Ontario’s jackpot’ of $737,186.50 in a November Lottario draw.

Lottario launched in 1978 as Ontario’s first terminal lotto game. Tickets are $1 and the draws take place every Saturday. Tickets purchased before 11:59 p.m. on Fridays are eligible for the Early Bird draw.

Moreau, 40, who works as a foreman and a welder, told OLG officials, while at the prize centre in Toronto, that he has been playing Lottario for the past four years.

“One day, I checked my ticket at the retailer and boom – I won,” Moreau said.

Moreau had matched all 6 numbers in the Nov. 29, 2025, draw.

He told officials he immediately called my dad, who did not believe him at first, before heading home to tell his mom.

“They’re both so happy for me,” Moreau said.

“This year, I lost the love of my life. Through grief, loss and pain, I’ve learned a lot about myself,” he said.

“This win has reminded me that I’m surrounded by a lot of love.”

Moreau said he is grateful to all those who have told him that he “deserved this”.

He said that he plans to put his winnings toward investments and travel.

“I’d like to go to Belize, Brazil, and Costa Rica,” Moreau said.

“I also want to set some money aside for my children’s future,” added the father of two.

The winning ticket was purchased at Hornepayne Service Centre on Highway 631 North, OLG confirmed.
