Northern man faces charge for threats with hammer: OPP

Ontario Provincial Police have charged a Thessalon man following an investigation into a threat complaint earlier this month.

On Jan. 10, OPP received a report of a man verbally threatening people.

Police said in a news release that the incident occurred at a work location on Federation Street and the suspect “threatened one person with a hammer.”

The man had left the scene before officers arrived, but was located a short time later on Maple Street and taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old was charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. Additionally, the man is also charged with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Elliot Lake on March 5.
