A 26-year-old North Bay man is facing multiple charges following a break-and-enter at a restaurant on McKeown Avenue in the city, with investigators later recovering stolen property and executing an outstanding warrant related to a separate incident from 2022. North Bay police said officers responded to a break-in at a business in the 900 block of McKeown Avenue at about 5:30 a.m. on March 29. Later that day, at about 1 p.m., members of the North Bay Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence in the area. The accused was arrested without incident and stolen property was recovered from the home. “Our members acted quickly and conducted a thorough investigation that led to the identification and arrest of the accused,” said acting Insp. Richard Hampel. Warrant executed in nearly four-year-old case Upon taking the man into custody, officers also executed an outstanding arrest warrant for a separate break-and-enter that occurred on Oct. 9, 2022, in the 200 block of Ski Club Road, where police said approximately $13,700 worth of property was stolen. “(Our members) work … allowed us to address an outstanding warrant, helping bring closure to the victims and hold the accused accountable,” said Hampel. Police said that the investigation was supported by the service’s forensic identification services and the criminal investigation section. Charges laid The local man is charged with two counts of breaking and entering to commit an indictable offence and one count of failing to comply with a probation order. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
