The North Bay Police Service charged two people with drug trafficking and weapons offences following a raid of a residence earlier this month in the 2000 block of Trout Lake Road.

City officers, along with support from units with the Ontario Provincial Police, arrived around 8:15 p.m. Feb. 13 and executed search warrants at two residences. Drugs and weapons were found at the one located on Trout Lake Road.

“Controlled substances, proceeds of crime and ammunition were seized,” police said.

Handgun ammo, pills

Items seized include six grams of fentanyl, 50 hydromorphone pills, 52.5 naloxone pills, ammunition, including 50 rounds of 9mm handgun ammunition and four rounds of .223 calibre ammunition and $5,245 in cash.

The two suspects were arrested. A 38-year-old North Bay man was charged with trafficking fentanyl, morphine and naloxone, violating probation and release orders, weapons offences and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The second suspect, a 40-year-old man also from North Bay, has been charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and three weapons-related offences.

The 38-year-old suspect is being held in custody pending a bail hearing. The second accused was released on an undertaking, with a court date scheduled for April 7.
