The North Bay Police Service charged a 36-year-old man with a series of residential break-and-enters in the Mulligan Street and Marshall Park Drive areas. The incidents took place between Aug. 21 and Sept. 15, police said in a news release Sept. 29. “Through the course of the investigation, police identified a suspect who was alleged to have entered homes while residents were away and targeted jewellery and small collectibles,” police said. He was arrested Sept. 26 at around 1:15 p.m. in the area of McIntyre Street and Fraser Street. The right to feel safe at home “Everyone has the right to feel safe and secure in their own home. When someone unlawfully enters that space, the impact goes far beyond the loss of property,” Insp. Scott McFarlane said in the release. “It can leave victims feeling violated, vulnerable and less secure in the place where they should feel safest … Our priority remains supporting those affected and holding those responsible accountable.” Charges include four counts of break and enter, selling stolen goods and wearing a disguise with the intent to commit a crime. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
