More than $28,000 in suspected drugs seized by OPP in northwestern Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police have charged a local man after seizing more than $28,000 worth of suspected drugs in Kenora, Ont., last week.

The investigation began on Sept. 24 when officers arrested a man on an outstanding bench warrant.

During a search following the arrest, police located and seized 34.31 grams of suspected fentanyl and 7.37 grams of suspected methamphetamine along with a cell phone, cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result, a 31-year-old man has been charged with two counts of drug trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.

The accused was held in custody pending a court appearance.

“Members of the OPP are committed to public safety, delivering proactive and innovative policing in partnership with our communities,” police said in a news release related to the incident.
