Man smashes window, destroys chair at northern Ont. hospital: OPP

Elliot Lake man was arrested Monday after causing damage and acting aggressively at a local hospital.

A 47-year-old local man is facing criminal charges following an incident at St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Elliot Lake on Monday that resulted in damaged property.

Ontario Provincial Police say officers responded to the hospital on Spine Road at about 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 15 after receiving a call about a person damaging property and being aggressive with staff.

“The person threw a bucket at an interior door window, shattering it and destroyed a chair,” OPP said in a news release.

Upon identifying the individual, police also discovered the person was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.

The man was taken into custody at the scene.

Multiple charges

As a result, the accused was charged with two counts of mischief and one count of failing to attend court after having appeared.

The man was held pending a bail hearing in Blind River on Tuesday.
