A man carrying a weapon inside a business in Fort Frances earlier this month has been charged with multiple offences. Ontario Provincial Police were called just after 2:30 p.m. local time Aug. 11 about the discovery of a firearm at a business. “The owner of the firearm was identified and arrested a short time later with the assistance of the Fort Frances OPP community street crime unit,” police said in a news release Aug. 18. The 19-year-old from Ignace has been charged with weapons possession and other weapons-related offences, including violating probation by possessing a weapon, and failing to comply with a release order. The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances. “The OPP is committed to public safety across Ontario,” police said. “Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious activity by calling 911 in emergency situations or through the non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122.
