The Halton Regional Police Service has charged a 31-year-old West Burlington man, on behalf of police in Sault Ste. Marie, in connection with an incident 19 months ago. On Dec. 10, 2024, police received a report of a collision between two vehicles in the area of Allens Sideroad and Second Line West, where the accused sustained serious physical injuries and was taken to hospital, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release Wednesday. “Officers located cannabis and other drug paraphernalia within reach of the driver’s seat in the vehicle and believed the accused’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drug,” police said. “Toxicology results indicated the accused was impaired by drugs and a warrant was obtained for their arrest.” On Tuesday, the accused attended the Halton Regional Police Service and was charged with operation while impaired and dangerous operation. Police said the suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Dec.7.
