Heritage plaque stolen from Sault Ste. Marie cathedral

Sault police seek the public's help in finding a stolen brass heritage plaque. The 24-inch plaque was taken from the lawn of Precious Blood Cathedral.

Investigators in Sault Ste. Marie are looking to the public for help in tracking down a stolen Ontario heritage plaque.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is requesting assistance to locate the brass plaque, which was taken from the side lawn of Precious Blood Cathedral on Queen Street East.

Police say the theft occurred sometime between Sept. 30 and Oct.1.

Plaque commemorated church’s community history

The stolen plaque is described as being 24 inches in height and 24 inches in width.

The brass marker highlights the church’s history in the neighbourhood.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on the location of the plaque or details about the theft to come forward.
