Help ID Walmart theft suspect in Sault Ste. Marie

Sault police and Crime Stoppers ask for help identifying a suspect in a $395 theft from the Walmart Superstore on Great Northern Road on April 10.

Sault police and Crime Stoppers have released surveillance images and are seeking the public’s help to identify a suspect in a theft investigation at a local retailer.

Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District, in partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, issued a plea for help on Friday and detailed the incident from last month.

Authorities said the incident occurred on April 10 at the Walmart Superstore location on Great Northern Road.

“A male, while in the store, selected several items valued at $395. The male then proceeded to conceal them in a bag and (walked) out,” said Crime Stoppers in a news release.

Police said the man then headed to a “waiting orange Jeep truck.”

Portions of the incident were captured by video surveillance cameras, and Sault police and Crime Stoppers are requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect.

Authorities have distributed the surveillance images and a video along with an appeal for information.

Appealing to the community

“Do you recognize this individual?” asked Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Sault police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

“If you have information, contact Crime Stoppers,” the organization said in a related online video.
