Hamilton woman charged after North Bay police seize $206K in drugs

More than $200K worth of fentanyl, meth & cocaine seized in a Highway 11 traffic stop near Powassan. A 34-year-old Hamilton woman faces drug trafficking charges

A lengthy investigation into the drug trade in North Bay, West Nipissing and Nipissing First Nation culminated with the arrest last week of a suspect and the seizure of a large amount of fentanyl, cocaine, crack and crystal meth.

The female suspect, a 34-year-old from Hamilton, was arrested following a traffic stop Jan. 29 at 3:30 p.m. on Highway 11 near Powassan.

“The accused was arrested without incident and the search resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of controlled substances,” police said.

A search of the woman’s vehicle – a 2024 Jeep Compass – uncovered $206,000 in illegal drugs.

They include 477 grams of fentanyl, 112 grams of crystal meth, 54 grams of cocaine and 14 grams of crack cocaine. The Compass was also seized.

The woman has been charged with several counts of drug trafficking and is being held in custody ahead of a bail hearing.

“By intercepting these drugs before they reach our streets, our members are helping to save lives and keep our community safe.”
