A section of Highway 64 in northern Ontario is fully closed in both directions due to flooding. As of just before 7 p.m. on Saturday the closure was expanded from Highway 17 in Strugeon Falls to Highway 11 in Marten River. “Commercial motor vehicles are advised to detour using Highway 11,” Ontario Provincial Police said in a social media post early Saturday afternoon. Ontario 511 also confirmed the full closure of all lanes of Highway 64 between Highways 17 and 11. The initial highway closure from Highway 539 to Lac Clair Road in Field began shortly befor 1 p.m. Closures expand in West Nipissing In its updates the OPP advised additional roads have been closed in the Municipality of West Nipissing due to flooding: Safety tips for drivers The OPP reminded motorists of the following safety tips when navigating flooded roadways: “Motorists are urged to plan accordingly and adjust travel as needed to remain safe,” said police. Motorists are encouraged to check 511on.ca or call 511 for up-to-date road conditions and closures before travelling.
