Elgin Street in Sudbury closes Sunday for annual marathon

The annual Sudbury Rocks marathon is taking place May 24, meaning Elgin Street in the city’s downtown will be closed for a few hours in the morning.

“Community members are encouraged to plan ahead for road closures and traffic delays during the SudburyRocks Race, Run or Walk Marathon,” Sudbury police said in a social media post.

“Elgin Street will be fully closed from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. ... Officers will be on-site directing traffic at Elm Street and Elgin Street.”

Race routes will take participants from the downtown core to New Sudbury and Minnow Lake areas.

“We ask all motorists to slow down, stay patient, and remain alert for runners and walkers along the course,” police said.
