Driver charged, vehicle impounded after Highway 11 crash

A 37-year-old from Calstock, Ont., is facing charges after a single-vehicle crash west of Hearst earlier this month, which led to a 45-day vehicle impoundment.

The Ontario Provincial Police responded to the collision on Highway 11 in Hanlan Township on Nov. 15.

“The investigation revealed the driver was suspended from driving,” OPP said in a social media post.

Charges laid

As a result of the investigation, the motorist has been charged with driving while under suspension and careless driving.

Due to the driver’s pre-existing suspension, the involved vehicle was automatically impounded for 45 days under provincial regulations.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Police remind drivers of responsibility

In the post, OPP used the incident to issue a broader reminder to all motorists about the importance of attentive driving.

“Whether it’s fatigue, distraction, or something else, staying focused on the road is critical,” said police.

“Drive safe,” added acting Sgt. Kyler Brouwer.
